What is Biorhythm?

💪

Physical Cycle

23 Days

The physical cycle is believed to affect your strength, coordination, and overall physical well-being. During high phases, you may feel more energetic and capable of physical activities. During low phases, rest and recovery are recommended.

Emotional Cycle

28 Days

The emotional cycle is thought to influence your mood, sensitivity, creativity, and emotional stability. High phases may bring optimism and better relationships, while low phases might require more self-care and patience.

Intellectual Cycle

33 Days

The intellectual cycle is said to affect your mental alertness, analytical thinking, memory, and communication skills. High phases might be ideal for learning and problem-solving, while low phases suggest focusing on routine tasks.

How Does It Work?

According to biorhythm theory, each of the three cycles begins at birth and oscillates in a regular sine wave pattern throughout your life. Each cycle moves between positive (+100%) and negative (-100%) values, crossing zero twice per cycle.

Understanding the Phases

  • High Phase (above 0%): You're said to be at your best in this area. Energy and abilities are enhanced.
  • Low Phase (below 0%): This is considered a recharging period. Take it easy and avoid pushing yourself.
  • Critical Days (crossing 0%): These transition days are believed to be unstable. Extra caution is advised.

The History of Biorhythm

The concept of biorhythm was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by Wilhelm Fliess, a German physician, and later popularized by Alfred Teltscher, an Austrian engineer. The theory gained significant popularity in the 1970s with the advent of personal computers that could easily calculate the cycles.

Calculating Your Biorhythm

The calculation is straightforward: for each cycle, we count the number of days since your birth, divide by the cycle length, and apply a sine function. The formula is:

Value = sin(2π × days_since_birth ÷ cycle_length)

This creates a smooth wave that oscillates between -1 and +1, which we display as a percentage.
